Aston Villa move for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr to fall through – John Percy
Aston Villa have seen their move for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr go into the verge of collapse, according to journalist John Percy.
The Villans have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old and reports in the last few days suggested that the deal has been agreed between the clubs.
Percy has since reported that a deal is now unlikely as the two clubs couldn’t finalise the structure of the deal, with talk of Cameron Archer and Kortney Hause going the other way on loan.
Setback
Villa are going through a different period where they’ve lost two out of the first three matches, including the recent one against Crystal Palace.
The team look short of ideas, there have been reports of some rift in the dressing room as well amongst some of the senior players and manager Steven Gerrard.
In such circumstances, Villa fans will be hoping to see the arrival of a highly-rated player who could’ve changed the whole mood at Villa Park. Therefore, the development will be taken as a huge setback and it will be interesting to see what Gerrard could do to turn things around.
Sarr has been a Watford player ever since moving there from the French club Stade Rennais in a deal worth £27 million in the summer of 2019. Since then, the 24-year-old has played 95 matches for his current club across all competitions where he has managed to 25 times and provided 19 assists in the process as well.
This is another blow after a poor start to the season, and other targets will surely be targeted now.
In other Aston Villa news, Kortney Hause will still be allowed to leave for Watford on loan
