Danny Ings: It’s too early to predict where Aston Villa will finish in 2022/23 Premier League

Aston Villa forward Danny Ings says it is too early to predict where the club will finish this season.

The 30-year-old forward, who joined the club in 2021, scored in the Villans’ 2-1 victory over Everton in the Premier League.

However, the former England international has now claimed that he does not think the club should get ahead of themselves and instead focus on the rest of the season.

Ings said, as quoted by the Express & Star: “I think it is a little bit early to look at where we are going to end up.

“Week-to-week football is very much up and down, and you saw that at Bournemouth with our performance, which wasn’t anywhere near good enough.

“Against Everton, we worked hard to get three points. It is such a tough league, for us the aim is to improve every week and if we do that we know we will get higher up the table.”

Ings is Right

The experienced forward is spot on when it comes to curtailing the Villan’s excitement and maintaining focus on the next task.

The Premier League is a league where anything can happen, and it is very hard to put together a run of consistency and a forward like Ings with over 170 appearances in the competition will know that better than anyone.

As Villans know, in the English top flight any team can surprise you at any time, so it is imperative that you keep focus at all times.

Steven Gerrard’s full focus should be on continuing their run against Crystal Palace when the two teams meet on 20 August.

Gerrard will do battle with old Premier League foe Patric Vieira in the dugout, and the Villans will try and leave Selhurst Park with three points yet again.

In other Aston Villa news, Diego Carlos has posted an emotional message on social media after his serious injury.
