Aston Villa looking for new centre back after Diego Carlos injury vs Everton
Aston Villa have begun the search for a new central defender following fears that Diego Carlos suffered a ruptured achilles against Everton on Saturday.
Villa picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory at Villa Park, but Carlos went down and was forced off injured just minutes before the end of the game after starting alongside Tyrone Mings.
If the injury is to be confirmed then Carlos could miss most of the season, and Steven Gerrard has instructed his scouts to draw up a new list of targets in case the worst comes to fruition according to The Mirror.

Carlos left the stadium on crutches and in a protective boot and is set to undergo a scan to confirm the full extent of the injury.
Gerrard admitted that he was worried about the injury, and reports now suggest they will return to the transfer market in order to replace him should their worst fears get confirmed.
Horror
If Gerrard could have picked any area of the team to pick up an injury that could potentially be season-ending, central defence would arguably have been the last position he’d have chosen.
Carlos was a £26m signing and was expected to be the centre-piece of the defence that Gerrard was constructing this season, and now those plans could potentially be thrown out of the window.

The speculation around Gerrard’s relationship with Mings, plus the question marks around the ability of Calum Chambers and Kortney Hause it leaves a gaping hole in the squad.
How much money they have left is unknown currently because they have spent vast amounts this summer, but they won’t want a stop-gap who isn’t of a certain quality.
They could possibly take a look at the loan market for someone, but it is a horror scenario for the Villans after a mediocre start to the season.
