Aston Villa Women confirm signing of Rachel Daly from Houston Dash
Aston Villa Women have confirmed the signing of European champion Rachel Daly with the former Houston Dash player signing a three-year deal with the Villans.
The 30-year-old defender has had previous spells in England with Leeds United, Lincoln Ladies, and West Ham United and had spent six years in America.
However, fresh off winning the European championships with England, she returns home to compete in the WSL. [AVFC]
Good signing for Villa
The signing of Daly is a real coup for the club that finished ninth in the Women’s Super League last season and will be looking to improve on that position this season.
Daly brings experience and goal-scoring ability to the Midlands club who scored a measly 13 goals in 22 games last season, the lowest in the division.
Aston Villa Women’s manager Carla Ward will be looking to improve on her team’s poor record of a goal every 1.7 games, a record that was even bettered by bottom-of-the-table Birmingham City.

In addition to this, Daly will be still fresh off winning the European Championships with the Lionesses and will be hoping to bring the form from that win to the WSL.
She started in the final against Germany at left-back and performed brilliantly as the Lionesses beat the Germans in extra-time.
In other Aston Villa news, Paul McGrath has urged Steven Gerrard to get Tyrone Mings back into the team.
