View: Ezri Konsa should be pushing for spot in England squad with Aston Villa in 2022/23
Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa should be pushing for an England place this season with the World Cup just around the corner.
The 24-year-old centre-back has knocked on the door of the England international team before and has made 12 appearances for England’s youth teams, including seven appearances for the Under-21s.
However, a full international call-up has evaded him so far, but this season he should be looking to put an end to that.

England call-up for Ezri Konsa?
Konsa came through the youth ranks at Charlton and made 47 appearances for Brentford before joining Aston Villa in the summer of 2019.
He is now one appearance of a century of appearances for the Villans, scoring six goals during his three years at Villa Park.
In those three years, he has established himself as a passionate and tough-tackling defender who we are still yet to see the very best of.

His impressive performances at the heart of the Villa defence have seen him being touted as a future England defender, and many believe he should be joining fellow Villa defender, Tyrone Mings in Gareth Southgate’s back line.
The 24-year-old centre-back last season scored more goals, had more shots on target and lost fewer aerial duels than Mings last season, despite playing 712 fewer minutes than the former Aston Villa captain. [FBRef]
Konsa can still be erratic at times, making two errors last season, the same as Mings, however, if he can continue his development at the rate he has, an England call-up cannot evade him for too much longer.
In other Aston Villa news, Carney Chukwuemeka has arrived in London to complete his move to Chelsea.
