Simon Jordan: Awful to see clubs like Aston Villa lose out on talented youngsters to Chelsea and other big sides

Simon Jordan is not happy by the fact that big clubs take players off of the small clubs after what happened with Aston Villa.

Chelse signed Carney Chukwuemeka from the Villans recently and he was also wanted by some of Europe’s other big clubs.

Jordan believes that it’s harsh on the academies that put their sweat and blood into developing players only for them to get poached away.

Via Twitter, Jordan wrote, “It’s a hell of a blow.

“It’s a smack in the face for all the academy directors and assistant directors and coaches of all levels to bring him through.

“They’ll get a good amount of money for it but it’s not good.

“The last thing you want is develop your players to a standard where they’re good enough to the level you want them to be at and along come Chelsea or Manchester City or Liverpool or Manchester United and say, ‘Thanks very much for that. We’ll see you later. We’ll take your young player.’

“It’s awful.”

Spot on

Unfortunately, Villa are not at that level where they can reject these offers from bigger clubs.

Had they been title contenders every season and breaking their transfer record each window, it would’ve been a different story.

However, they do find themselves becoming a selling club and their top players are always going to be transfer targets for Champions League clubs.

Hopefully, under Steven Gerrard they build a team that goes on to achieve what West Ham or Leicester previously did.

Both sides can now call themselves top 10 clubs as they’re constantly competing for European and sometimes even Champions League places.

Villa do have rich owners so money is not the issue and they must only replicate it on the pitch.

In other Aston Villa news, manager Steven Gerrard is very keen to bring Liverpool defender Joe Gomez to the club.
