Carney Chukwuemeka leaves Aston Villa to join Chelsea

Carney Chukwuemeka has completed a shock transfer from Aston Villa to Chelsea with an official announcement being made.

The 18-year-old will now travel to London to discuss his personal terms with the Blues and complete the formalities before a transfer.

This move has come as a surprise as the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona were understood to be in the running for his services.

Via their official account, Chelsea wrote, “Aston Villa and Chelsea can confirm that the clubs have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Carney Chukwuemeka.

“The 18-year-old has been given permission to travel to London to discuss both personal terms and undergo a medical.”

Surprising

Nobody saw this one coming and we’re unsure as to how Chelsea managed to pull it off so discreetly.

Europe’s top clubs were all vying for his services and they ended up securing his signature which is a major coup for them.

Villa surely would’ve been compensated handsomely although we do not know how much the fee agreement is.

Personal terms should not be an issue as the Blues have the money to give him the salary he desires and he could soon be a first-team player there.

It’s a good thing for Villa that he’s off the books as Steven Gerrard clearly did not want a disruptive player to be part of the dressing room.

The club can move on and possibly reinvest that money into the squad as they still need to strengthen in various departments.

In other Aston Villa news, manager Steven Gerrard is very keen to bring Liverpool defender Joe Gomez to the club.
