Aston Villa defender Kortney Hause wanted by Watford – report
Aston Villa defender Kortney Hause is wanted by Championship club Watford, and could be available for a loan later in the window according to The Athletic.
Hause signed a new contract until June 2025 and underwent knee surgery this summer as he looks to overcome a niggling injury he has played through to get more regular minutes.
But with Tyrone Mings, Diego Carlos, Ezri Konsa and Calum Chambers ahead of him in the pecking order currently, Watford are looking to replace their centre-back Samir with an experienced option and Hause fits the bill.

With experience in the Championship and Premier League, he is seen as an ideal target and being left-footed is also a key piece of criteria for the player they want to sign.
Watford also hold an interest in striker Cameron Archer and would be able to sign both, as EFL rules state you can sign four players from one club.
Interesting
This would be a very interest move for both Villa and Hause, and is something that should be considered as quite ambitious by Watford considering their relegation.
Hause is good enough for the Premier League, but he’s arguably only the fourth-best centre back at the club right now and he will want to play more regularly than that.

A move to the Championship would obviously be a step down in level, but if he can rack up 40+ appearances it would show everyone just how good he is and get him back into the first-team squad at Villa Park or elsewhere.
However he certainly backs himself to play regularly at Villa now, despite the arrival of Diego Carlos this summer, and will want to test himself at the highest level against the best players.
Depending on Steven Gerrard’s plans for his defence in the coming season, it’ll be interesting to see which way this goes but he’s certainly good enough to offer us something on the pitch this season should he stay.
