Alan Hutton predicts Anwar El Ghazi will leave Aston Villa for good this summer
We’re delighted to welcome Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Aston Villa…
Alan Hutton has predicted that Aston Villa promotion hero Anwar El Ghazi will leave the club on a permanent deal this summer.
The former Villa defender believes that El Ghazi has had enough chances to break into the team, but he is now a fringe player and is destined for the exit.
El Ghazi was loaned out to Everton in January, but made just two appearances for The Toffees, playing a meagre 13 minutes of football and often failing to make the bench.

“I think he’ll go. I think there’s a number of players that have got a question mark over them,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“The likes of El Ghazi, Traore, these kind of guys. They’ve had ample opportunity to break into the team.
“El Ghazi went out on loan last season, did it work? I’m not quite sure. He’ll probably be thinking that his time has come to move on.

“Steven Gerrard will be looking to ship a few of the players out, those who he sees as fringe players and I think El Ghazi comes under that bracket.”
The time has come
Despite everything he has done for Villa, it is probably time for El Ghazi to move on now.
He has been left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and Villa no longer play with wingers, leaving him without a place.
El Ghazi is too good, and at 27 years old he is also too young, to be stapled to the bench and getting the occasional cameo. The Dutch winger will always be fondly remembered at Villa Park, but his time at Villa has come to an end.
