Alan Hutton believes Aston Villa are not done in the transfer market

We’re delighted to welcome former Scotland defender Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Aston Villa...

Alan Hutton has predicted that Aston Villa will sign more players this season, with the midfield being a particular focus.

The former Villa defender says the Lions will always remain open to a transfer and that he believes they will look to upgrade their midfield soon.

Douglas Luiz is currently being linked with a move away, with Serie A champions AC Milan reported to be in direct talks with the club, as per the Daily Mail.

“I think you’ll always look. You’re never going to close any door,” he exclusively told Villa News.

Gerrard spoke about the midfield a lot even though they have got talented players in there.

“It seems like he is still searching for something where it’s for Douglas Luiz to leave to bring someone in on the defensive side, or someone more attacking that frees up the likes of Ramsey and McGinn

“I don’t think you’ll ever say that they’re not looking, they’ll always look to bring in talented players if something happens.”

Who could they bring in?

With Villa seemingly looking to upgrade their midfield, there are a few options out there that they can explore.

A move for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher has been mooted by some, although there appears to be very little concrete in those links. Another name mentioned was West Ham stalwart Tomas Soucek, but again that move seems unlikely at this stage.

Ultimately, Villa are one of the most secretive clubs in the country when it comes to transfers, so we likely will not know who they bring in until it is done.

In other Aston Villa news, Carney Chukwuemeka could be heading to Barcelona in January.
