View: Aston Villa sanctioning third move for Wesley is pointless, let him go for good
Aston Villa are in discussions to send Wesley on a third loan in the space of a year, which seems incredibly pointless for both parties.
The one-time Brazilian international has been back in his homeland with Internacional since January after his return to Club Brugge was cut short.
However, he has made just 10 goalless league appearances across both spells and he is set to move on again, with the Birmingham Mail reporting on Tuesday afternoon (12 July) that he is attracting interest from “an unnamed Spanish club.”

Wesley’s decline has been heart-breaking to watch after Villa’s former record signing was struck down with a horror knee injury just as he was hitting his stride in January 2020.
He spent 15 months out, making his comeback in April 2021 but has started just five league matches since then.

Just let him go
Wesley is a talented striker, Villa spent £22 million on him for a reason, but he simply has not been the same player since his injury.
He was given a second chance during preseason in 2021, but a ridiculous red card in a friendly against Stoke saw him shipped out and Cameron Archer given his place on the bench.
It was hoped that a return to Club Brugge, the club where he made his name, would reignite his career and he could mount a comeback, but that was not the case.
His return to Brazil has gone even worse, playing just 150 minutes of league football since April, hence why his loan is being cut short.
It is clear that he will likely never play for Villa again and moving clubs every six months is not helping him, so what he needs is stability.
A permanent move for him, even on a free transfer, would provide Wesley with the stable platform he needs to rebuild his career.
It is incredibly sad, but it is what is needed for the good of his career.
In other Aston Villa news, Anwar El Ghazi will be sitting out of the preseason tour of Australia.
