Aston Villa confirm agreement to sign Ludwig Augustinsson on loan from Sevilla
Aston Villa have announced they have agreed their fifth signing of the summer after confirming the signing of Ludwig Augustinsson from Sevilla.
The Swedish left-back only signed for the Spanish outfit in August 2021 but failed to settle in Seville, making 19 La Liga appearances.
Villa announced the agreement on Monday evening (12 July) via their website, revealing that he has arrived on loan with an option to buy.

Augustinsson has not officially arrived at Villa yet as he still needs to obtain a work permit, but once he gets that he will join up with the squad for their tour of Australia.
The 28-year-old is Villa’s second signing from Sevilla this summer after Diego Carlos and is expected to be used as backup to Lucas Digne.

What next?
Now that Villa have their new left-back, they are not expected to be too active in the remainder of the window.
The Birmingham Mail revealed in a Q&A on Monday morning (11 July) that the club are expected to pursue a new midfielder and a striker before the end of the window.
Villa pursuing a midfielder is an interesting move as there does not appear to be much room for one in the squad as yet.
The Birmingham Mail Q&A revealed that there is still a chance for Morgan Sanson to turn his Villa career around and they will not rush into a signing.
John McGinn has been largely un-droppable since he arrived in 2018 while Jacob Ramsey enjoyed a breakout season last term.
At holding midfield, they have new signing Boubacar Kamara and Marvelous Nakamba as options, alongside Douglas Luiz who can cover both positions.
There does not seem to be much room in the midfield at present, meaning someone will likely have to be moved on before anyone new comes in.
In other Aston Villa news, the women’s team have announced the signing of Danielle Turner from Everton.
