Alan Hutton hopes Carney Chukwuemeka will get more Aston Villa playing time next season
We’re delighted to welcome former Scotland defender Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Aston Villa...
Alan Hutton is hoping that Carney Chukwuemeka gets more playing time in the Aston Villa first-team in the 2022-23 Premier League season and beyond.
The ex-Villa right back lauded the academy approach by Christian Purslow, as well as the managers who have opened the door to so many young talents over the years.
Chukwuemeka has admitted recently that he could go out on loan to get more minutes next season, but Hutton admits it would be a shame to see him leave.

“I hope so,” he exclusively told Villa News. “He’s a top talent, we’ve seen that.
“It doesn’t matter your age, Steven Gerrard and Dean Smith were willing to put the youngsters through and the likes of Purslow, they’ve worked really hard to get the top, young talented players through to Aston Villa. The thing with that, it’s not just getting them through the door, you want to get them into the first team and they’ve shown that.
“I’m hoping he can play more because in his own mind he’s probably thinking if he can’t play here, he needs to move on which would be a shame. Hopefully he can breakthrough and we can see him a lot more.”

No brainer.
After Jacob Ramsey broke through in recent years, it proved that our young talents have what it takes.
Chukwuemeka is certainly the next cab off the block, and it is time for him to show Steven Gerrard that he can make a real difference every single week in the Premier League.
The youngster got the odd appearance last season but didn’t take advantage fully.
Watching on from a distance at the Under-19 European Championships though, the playmaker is really making a difference for his country, and that will see him jump into pre-season in brilliant form.
Gerrard will no doubt be impressed, and it is time to push him hard with the hope that he can be the next big thing to come out of Villa Park in years to come.
