Emiliano Martinez gushes over Aston Villa signings in admission

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has lifted the lid on his Lions’ future and his World Cup hopes ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

According to TyC Sports [18 April], Italian giants Juventus were eyeing a summer move for the Argentina international.

With the hopes of being the best goalkeeper in Qatar in conjunction with the Villans’ astute transfer business so far, the 29-year-old is “obsessed” with life at Villa Park.

“If I want to win things with the national team, I have to set my sights high,” Martinez told D-Sports Radio de Doble Amarilla, via AS.

“I don’t even go out for a coffee with friends. I’m obsessed with my job. I want to be at my best to reach the World Cup. In these months, I’m going to achieve it; I want to be the best goalkeeper in the World Cup.”

He added: “Aston Villa is in a good situation, we have already defined two to three signings and I’m not thinking of leaving.

“Now I’m focused on the national team and there are five months to go to the World Cup.

“Now I have the opportunity to play a World Cup, it is the dream of all Argentines. And then I dream of playing in the Champions League.”

Massive.

The speculation never really took off but the risk of losing Martinez was a real concern for Villa.

It is made to think the Argentine rotted away at Arsenal for all of those years despite his immense talent – the Gunners really missed a trick there.

He has been brilliant since making the move to the Lions. Establishing himself as a key member of the team.

Not only has he cleared up his future, but you can expect the shot-stopper to be at his very best next season as he looks to be Argentina’s number one for the World Cup which Steven Gerrard will be absolutely delighted with.

It is a really exciting time to be a Villans fan as the Liverpool legend looks to catapult the club back to its former glory with the backing of the board.

Hopefully, everything works out because spending money and making signings doesn’t always guarantee success.
