Aston Villa have no intentions to sell Danny Ings – report
Steven Gerrard has no intentions of allowing striker Danny Ings to leave Aston Villa this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett.
It had been reported by 90min on 10 June that the Villans were open to offers for the England international with Southampton, Bournemouth and Brighton all keeping tabs on the 29-year-old’s situation.
But those rumours have now been quashed as Dorsett, who also believes that Manchester United and Leeds United were keen on Ings, reported via his personal Twitter account that such offers would be rejected.
Gerrard could be tempted to bring in another striker to Villa Park this summer transfer window which is why such reports of their willingness to listen to offers for Ings came about.
He only joined the club 12 months ago from the Saints and he scored a perhaps disappointing seven goals in 30 Premier League games in his first season in claret and blue.
Sensible
If Ings had played all 38 Premier League games without finding the net once, you might be able to understand if Villa did want to get rid of him at the earliest opportunity.
But considering he battled with niggling injuries throughout the 2021-22 campaign, seven goals wasn’t a terrible return at all and he will certainly improve on that with a good run of starts in the 2022-23 season.

They might say that they have no intentions to sell but if one of the interested teams came in and offered £50million or more, then surely we would snap their hands off.
At 29 years of age, Ings probably has two or three more years in him at the very top level so the time will be coming soon for him to be sold while we can still get a decent fee.
It would be best for him and the club if he were to stay this summer but you can never rule anything out in the transfer market and we have plenty of cover in Ollie Watkins and Cameron Archer already.
In other Aston Villa news, Archer is a wanted man with the Scottish Cup winners and two Championship sides scouting the 20-year-old.
