Writing on his personal Twitter account on Thursday evening [09 June], Romano shared news on another potential exit at Villa Park this summer.

“Trabzonspor have made an official proposal to Aston Villa for Mahmoud Trezeguet,” he wrote. “Negotiations are set to begin.

“There are also other clubs interested in Trezeguet from Turkey and different leagues.”

Get him out.

This is the summer when everything changes.

Steven Gerrard has already sanctioned big-money moves to sign Boubacar Kamara, Diego Carlos and Philippe Coutinho on permanent deals.

Matt Targett has moved on to Newcastle permanently, and now it is time to shift out more deadwood, and Trezeguet is certainly that as things stand.

It will be interesting to see if this can turn into a transfer auction with other clubs interested.

Romano has reported that Trabzonspor have made the first move with a proposal on the table, so if that appeals to Villa, other clubs will need to make their moves quickly.

The 27-year-old did shine in Turkey on loan at Basaksehir, scoring six goals and adding four assists in his 13 appearances in the 2021-22 season.

That has clearly alerted many in Turkey, and it could be critical to his next move – watch this space over the coming days and weeks.

In other Aston Villa news, there is another, much younger striker who the Villans are attempting to purchase but Leeds United are offering stern competition.
