Sky Sports journalist expects Aston Villa coach Michael Beale to join QPR today
Aston Villa could be about to lose their assistant manager with Michael Beale destined to be announced as the new Queens Park Rangers manager.
The 41-year-old has been Steven Gerrard’s assistant long before he arrived at Villa Park in November having worked with him at Rangers since 2018 but the bond is set to be broken so Beale can pursue being the number one man himself.
Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth expects the confirmation of his exit and subsequent arrival at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium to be announced on Wednesday (1 June).
He revealed the update via his personal Twitter account and also claimed that the club were aware of his desire to be the first-team manager of a club.
Beale will sign a three-year deal in the capital while Gerrard and Villa now need to search for a new right-hand man whether it be one signed from elsewhere or promoted from within.
Deserved
Beale has grafted his way through the coaching ladder to get to being an assistant manager but every number two wants to go one better and when the chance comes, they would be silly to turn it down.

The 41-year-old will be attracted by the decent season QPR had in 2021-22 despite tailing off towards the end of the 46-game campaign and the potential o bring them back to the Premier League.
He has done well to get a job as a manager at a club only one division below where he was only a number two and it should be a very good test of his abilities.
Gerrard will be keeping a very close eye on his progress in London and if he leaves the club at some point in the future, with the ex-England captain still at Villa Park, expect to see Beale back in the Midlands with the famous Aston Villa crest emblazoned on his training gear.
In other Aston Villa news, Gerrard should allow Roma manager Jose Mourinho to come in and take one of his players because his replacement is already at the club.
