Aston Villa get response after contact made with Tammy Abraham’s team

Aston Villa have “made contact” over a potential move for AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham in the summer, according to reports by 90min.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a rather successful loan spell at Villa Park – playing a key role in helping the Lions get promoted from the Championship.

Villa are said to have reached out to the player’s representatives and received a quick response that he is happy in Italy.

The former Villans man had a hand in 32 goals across all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side as they lifted the Europa Conference League trophy.

Premier League rivals, Arsenal and cash-flush Newcastle United are also interested in the England international despite his hard stance as he looks to be settled playing in the Serie A.

Shame.

Often we see players move to easier leagues like the Serie A and set it alight which is exactly what Abraham has with Roma.

He has been instrumental for the Italians all season but that doesn’t guarantee him to have the same success on his return to England.

Take Romelu Lukaku for example, the Chelsea striker scored goals for fun at Inter Milan but he has been awful since returning to Stamford Bridge.

That might be slightly unfair on Abraham because they are two completely different players both at different stages of their career but as the former Chelsea man knows – England and the Premier League isn’t for the faint-hearted.

He has more than proven himself in the past. The forward did amazingly at Chelsea filling in for them whilst they had their transfer ban but as soon as they were able to spend again, the Blues soon kicked the former Swansea ace to the curb.

That will give Abraham some confidence to return one day but for now, he looks likely to stay put and you can hardly blame him.

In other Aston Villa news, the Lions have been told a £25million fee for Calvin Bassey, according to a report.
