Aston Villa ace Ezri Konsa dealt injury blow, could miss start of next season
Aston Villa will be without Ezri Konsa for their final two Premier League games of the season after it was confirmed that he has sustained a knee injury.
The 24-year-old has been an almost ever-present in the Villa side this season but had to be brought off in the 50th minute of the home draw with Crystal Palace.
The club confirmed on their official website that the Englishman would be out for roughly 16 weeks which also means he will miss a good portion of pre-season for the 2022-23 campaign and perhaps even the first competitive games too.
“When someone leaves the pitch and you see the challenge, you’re fearing that it could be an ACL, a six to nine-month injury but thankfully it wasn’t,” Villa manager Steven Gerrard said in his pre-match press conference.
“If you are going to sustain an injury as a player, it’s not the worst time in the world, although there is never a good time.
“He won’t miss much football, we are hoping to get him back sometime towards the end of August or September.”
Big miss
Konsa has really taken his game onto a new level this season and he could be seen as the Villans’ best centre-half over captain Tyrone Mings.

Some supporters have been calling for the 24-year-old to get an England call-up for the upcoming UEFA Nations League games but that has now been quashed with this news.
Calum Chambers is not quite the replacement Gerrard would be hoping for but thankfully, we aren’t at risk of relegation nor trying to push for European places so these final couple of games have very little riding on them.
Kortney Hause could also do Konsa’s job too so the boss won’t have all that much trouble finding a replacement but it still isn’t particularly ideal.
Villa Park will be waiting for the Englishman’s return next season and give him a raucous welcome back to fitness when he does eventually get back into shape and solidify the Villans’ defence once again.
