Jurgen Klopp gushes over Aston Villa ace Danny Ings

Jurgen Klopp has been full of praise for Aston Villa forward Danny Ings for his performance against Liverpool.

While Villa may have lost the game 2-1, they put in a spirited performance throughout the game.

Ings, who had the ball in Allison’s net, later realised that he had mistimed his run and was offside.

Regardless, Klopp was still in admiration of him when he said in his post-match press conference: “There were one or two moments where we had to defend with the centre-halves in the six-yard box because of the quality of Villa. Ingsy unbelievable, Watkins and these kinds of things that’s tricky, but we did it.”

Impressive

Ings worked under Klopp at Liverpool so the German will certainly have fond memories.

That said, the Englishman was a constant thorn in Liverpool’s side on Tuesday night.

His runs were a constant menace for the Reds defenders who found it extremely hard to mark him.

He seemed sharp whenever the ball fell to his feet and deserved a goal for his efforts.

Ings certainly does not look like a player who’s nearing his 30s and hopefully he manages to stay injury free for the next few months.

Steven Gerrard undoubtedly is playing to his strengths and we should see more goals from Ings at the start of next season.

Ings and Watkins should both eye hitting around 15 goals in the league next season.

In other Aston Villa news, the club are set to intensify Philippe Coutinho talks in the coming weeks.
