Gary Lineker makes Gerrard-Everton joke during Aston Villa win v Burnley
Gary Lineker joked that Steven Gerrard did his bit to keep Everton in the Premier League during the Aston Villa v Burnley game.
The Premier League legend tweeted when the score was at 2-0 and Villa ended up winning it 3-1.
Everton, who are currently in 18th place, will certainly have been delighted seeing Burnley losing three points.
Via his personal Twitter account, Lineker wrote, “Villa are 2 up at Burnley. Gerrard is doing his bit to try and save Everton.”
Important win
Villa’s recent form appeared to look woeful but some decent results will see them ending the season well.
They’re currently 11th and winning their game in hand will put them in the top half.
At the start of the season, a top-half finish certainly seemed off the cards for the Villans.
The team had stagnated under Dean Smith and the owners were reluctant to make the big decision to offload him.

However, once they did that, Steven Gerrard was the man they brought in and it’s worked out so far.
He’s got in some decent coaches and attracted players of the calibre of Philippe Coutinho to the club.
Finishing in the top ten will be an absolute dream but clearly not beyond reach for them.
Everything suggests that Gerrard can motivate his side over the line and we cannot wait to see the sort of team he builds for next season as he can certainly get the job done.
In other Aston Villa news, the club are set to intensify Philippe Coutinho talks in the coming weeks.
