Steven Gerrard going around numerous places to scout new players for Aston Villa – report

Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard is closely watching potential targets ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Dean Jones

The Lions have been linked to Boubacar Kamara as the former Rangers boss looks to stamp his mark on the squad ahead of next season.

Jones believes that Gerrard wants to get a close up of several targets ahead of the window after he was spotted in France.

The boss and Gary McAllister were also spotted watching Noni Madueke in action during his current employers’ Europa Conference League clash with Leicester City.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think it’s quite likely the case, especially Kamara.

“I think he is somebody that’s been on their radar a little while and they’re currently weighing up who is going to fit best into the team in that position.

“Steven Gerrard is currently going around a few places and just seeing for himself exactly how he thinks their personality on the pitch would fit in with what his vision is at Aston Villa.”

Getting a close up of the player always helps. The cameras never follow one player around the pitch for the whole game so it can be hard to see their full impact on the game.

Gerrard knows exactly what he is looking to add to this Aston Villa squad and going to see the player perform live in the flesh is the best way to find out whether they are suitable.

Kamara is a player with all of the qualities of a Premier League midfielder. He is powerful, good with the ball and never shy of a tackle when protecting the Marseille defence with his brilliant game reading skills which is what Gerrard would have witnessed first-hand.

The Lions boss has a huge summer window planned as he looks to make his mark at Villa Park.

He had a great impact when taking over from Dean Smith but the Liverpool legend will want to make more personnel changes to the squad ahead of next season where the verdict will be made on whether he is good enough.

In other Aston Villa news, Gerrard wants Joe Gomez but the Liverpool player will have to force the move from his end
