Aston Villa to intensify Philippe Coutinho talks in coming weeks – report
Aston Villa will reportedly intensify talks over making a decision about Philippe Coutinho beyond the summer.
According to the Athletic, Steven Gerrard remains keen on signing the Brazil international on a permanent basis.
The Villans know how much they have to pay to get the deal done but there is a limit they can stretch to in terms of his wages.

Sign him up
Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens have shown a commitment to spend the big bucks and get Villa to the elite level again.
Their investments have been quantitative but in terms of quality, numerous signings have been underwhelming.
For Coutinho, he hit the ground running on his return to the Premier League, but of late his form has taken a hit.
That’s not entirely his fault as the other players too seem to be taking it easy.

With European places out of reach and Premier League safety a foregone conclusion, there really is nothing left to play for this season for the Villans.
Gerrard will be given the chequebook to rebuild this side and we’re sure that Coutinho will be made front and centre part of his plans.
Hopefully, the club hierarchy give Coutinho and the manager what they want and get this move sorted sooner rather than later.
There are few players of his calibre that would be willing to move to Villa Park so it makes sense to retain his services.
