Steven Gerrard ‘super frustrated’ with Aston Villa ace Bertrand Traore

Steven Gerrard has admitted that he has been “super frustrated” by Bertrand Traore this season with the winger continuously battling injuries at Aston Villa.

The former Lyon man has played a mere 171 minutes of Premier League football this season in seven games.

The former Rangers boss claimed the 26-year-old is a big talent but his body keeps letting him down.

He told Express & Star: “I’ve been super frustrated. I saw him in the Premier League previously and he is capable of scoring and creating.

“In terms of his body this season since we came in, we haven’t been able to trust it to be available. That has been frustrating because he is a big talent.”

Gerrard added: “When we arrived at the club he was injured. We got him back fit, allowed him to go away to the Africa Cup of Nations, he came back injured.

“We got him back fit and on Thursday he dropped out injured. We haven’t seen enough of the boy.”

Liability.

It is safe to say that the Burkina Faso international hasn’t made the impact that the Villans expected he would when he signed for a sizeable £19million last season from Lyon.

He did very well in his first season, notching eight Premier League goals. He wasn’t the most consistent of performers but he has given the benefit of the doubt as he adjusted to life and football in England.

This season has seen the forward massively backtrack. A catalogue of serious injuries has completely halted his progression and clearly left Gerrard as well as the Lions fans infuriated.

Injuries happen in football but limping off in training is one of the most annoying things a player can do.

Hopefully, he can build some rhythm once he returns to the team for next season because he will soon find himself out of fortune completely if this campaign’s shocking playing record continues – especially with Gerrard set to make a host of signings in the summer.

In other Aston Villa news, the Villans might have to pay £40million to sign Yves Bissouma from Brighton.
