Zion Suzuki's Aston Villa contract examined: Wages, duration and amortisation

Zion Suzuki has made an eye-catching start to life at Aston Villa since his arrival in the summer transfer window.

The Japan international was surprisingly brought in as the new number one at Villa Park.

He came in despite Emi Martinez being yet to make a move elsewhere at the time.

Unai Emery showed clear faith in him and backed him to be the go-to man in between the sticks.

That decision has paid off as the 24-year-old has had an excellent start to life in B6.

Suzuki has proven himself with his shot-stopping and distribution, even if results have not been great for the Villans, as we now assess what we know about his contract.

What is Zion Suzuki's Aston Villa wage?

With Martinez looking for an exit, the Villans clearly had their replacement in mind.

The Parma man was on the radar for a long-time and then he had looked set to join Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer.

When that move collapsed, Villa stepped in and quickly sealed a deal that could eventually cost £30million.

As part of that, he penned a five-year contract, with Valuball reporting that he is being paid £65,000-a-week.

That equates to £3.4m-per-year, representing £3.9m less than what Martinez is now earning at Chelsea.

That represents a sizable drop for the Villans as they worked to get their revenue-to-wage ratio down.

How much are Aston Villa paying for Suzuki per year?

With his contract running until the summer of 2031, there is plenty of time for his fees to be paid off.

The amortisation of his transfer fee and wage will be spread across those five years.

An initial figure of £5.5m is reportedly ready for this campaign, and will go up to between £6.3m and £6.4m moving forward.

That ranks him eighth in the squad for amortisation fee, with only three of those above him not new signings.

Suzuki is going to be a massive part of this new era in B6 and is looking like a bargain already.
