Aston Villa are preparing for a goalkeeping reshape over the coming summer.

As was the case in 2025, the future of Emi Martinez is up in the air, with Italian giants Juventus reportedly interested.

According to reports from Italy, the Villans value the Argentine at around £13million after a move failed to materialise last summer.

Looking ahead to the transfer window, it seems contingency plans are already in place, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Villa are interested in Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.

Joining the club in 2024, the Japanese international has seen his stock continue to rise, with the 23-year-old now among three shotstoppers tracked by the B6 outfit.

And if a potential move to the Midlands were to materialise, Suzuki has already told fans everything they need to know.

What do Aston Villa fans need to know about Zion Suzuki?

Born in the USA, Suzuki has represented Japan since Under-15 level, making his first start for the senior team in 2022

Now 23, the shotstopper has made a name for hismelf across Europe with Italian outfit Parma, after a loan spell at Sint-Truiden.

While Parma have never won the Scudetto, they remain a giant of Italian football - Suzuki emphasised this upon his 2024 move, mentioning historic names as inspiration.

"I know that Gianluigi Buffon and Hidetoshi Nakata played here, but I have to be honest and say that I haven't seen a lot of their matches. However, I'll be happy if I play like those who have made history here; it'd mean I'd be remembered."

On his game, he said: "My big strength is my long kicking, which is something the team can exploit," before he outlined his willingness to adapt, saying: "I'm trying to understand how the team plays,"

Like Parma, Villa are a huge club in their respective league, and Suzuki's reaction to his Italian move suggests that he is someone willing to make the steps needed to play for a side carrying the weight of the past.

"I'd like to play every match or as many matches as possible," he said.

"I understand the pressure that Parma's investment brings, but the thing I can do is train well and play as best as I can."

When can Aston Villa fans catch a glimpse of Zion Suzuki?

With the World Cup around the corner, fans in the Midlands may be keen to catch a glimpse of one of their targets.

Japan themselves have been touted by some as a side to embark on a run into the knockouts, with recognised talent in Ao Tanaka, Ritsu Doan, Daichi Kamada and more making up the squad.

For Villa though, they will be interested in the man between the posts.

Aston Villa to go all in for Moritz Nicolas amid Emi Martinez exit update

On Sunday 14 June, Japan will take on The Netherlands at 9pm UK time, with the pair potentially locking horns to see who tops the group.

Following this, they go head-to-head with Tunisia and Sweden on the 21 and 26 June respectively, though both sit at unsociable times of midnight and 5am.

Representing his country this summer, fans of Aston Villa have the chance to take a close look at the man who could be between the sticks next term - should a deal for Martinez go through after a year of waiting.
