Modou Keba Cisse left Unai Emery furious as Aston Villa faced Real Sociedad on Tuesday.

The Villans returned to the Pallet Track Bescot Stadium for yet another pre-season outing in Walsall.

This time, they faced the LaLiga outfit as they went in search of their second friendly win of the summer.

They didn't get that as the Spaniards secured a 4-2 win as Gorka Carrera and Inaki Ruperez netted to take the game away from the B6 outfit.

There were positive signs as both George Hemmings and Brian Madjo scored their second and third goals of pre-season respectively.

It wasn't such an ideal night for Cisse, in that same breath, as he learned exactly what it's like to play under Emery.

There have been many young talents making their presence known in claret and blue this summer.

Luka Lynch has caught the eye with his goals, while the Senegalese talent has been a regular at the back.

Cisse looked completely comfortable against the Portuguese giants and continued that against Real Sociedad.

That didn't stop him from angering Emery in the first half at the Bescot as he launched a long ball forward.

The Villa boss was left visibly frustrated towards the centre-back after his failure to build out from the back.

Cisse raised his arm in means of apology towards the bench as he immediately responded to the Spaniard's wrath.

It may seem over-the-top from Emery, but it will massively help Cisse develop in B6.

What Unai Emery will like about Cisse at Aston Villa

The opening three pre-season encounters have given the Villans a perfect chance to look at the defender.

He has made a good first impression, even if Emery has clearly grown frustrated towards him.

That may actually be a boost to his chances of playing first-team minutes in the upcoming campaign, because he wouldn't care so much if that wasn't the case.

Cisse proved his worth in the Austrian Bundesliga last summer as he clocked up 240 defensive contributions and 108 duel wins for LASK.

He was only dribbled past eight times all campaign, while he also helped his side to seven Austrian Bundesliga clean sheets.

What will have caught Emery's eye most is his 1,071 successful passes, with an average of an 85 per cent pass accuracy.

That is exactly why the Spaniard will want Cisse to keep the ball on the ground rather than playing aimless long passes.

Facing a telling off from the manager could prove to be the making of the defender and could help him improve massively this summer.
