Lucas Bergvall is once again part of the conversations at Aston Villa, with his Tottenham future in doubt.

Spurs shoved off interest from Villa and Chelsea in January, with the Lilywhites not looking to sell the young star.

Things have since changed, with Roberto De Zerbi handing the Swede just one start and 54 minutes off the bench since arriving.

The talent is there though, having been named as Tottenham's Player of the Year in the 2024-25 season, following his move from Djurgarden.

Currently away at the World Cup, Bergvall has made two substitute appearances for Sweden - indicating his lowering stocks as of late.

Looking to get back to his best and begin hitting his potential, a move could be the best option for him.

Lucas Bergvall update indicates Aston Villa dilemma

The Athletic report that Nottingham Forest are earmarking Bergvall as a potential replacement for Elliot Anderson this summer, should he make a big move to Manchester City.

Villa on the other hand, do remain an admirer of his, but are said to be not actively looking for a midfielder, without a sale taking place first.

Out of the current crop, the Villans are not exactly looking to sell either, with talks ongoing for a new deal for Youri Tielemans, who is entering the final two years of his deal.

There is interest in Tielemans though, meaning that Villa must be alert to the ongoings with Bergvall in case a move for one of their midfielders does materialise.

What transfer decision are Aston Villa left with?

For years, the topic of PSR and now SCR has been commonly discussed at Villa Park.

That is not set to change, with the Villans once again frustrated at the way in which they have to operate.

Tielemans has been fantastic under Unai Emery, with the Belgian simply getting better and better with age.

However, he is one of the club's highest earners, while anything brought in in terms of fee would represent a pure profit, given the fact he arrived on a free transfer.

Both fans and Emery alike would not want to lose Tielemans, though there simply have to be conversations going on behind the scenes, with the 29-year-old not getting any younger.
