Steve Parish tactics questioned as Evann Guessand likely 'has no future at Aston Villa'
Steve Parish has been questioned by a former Aston Villa employee after he posted about Evann Guessand on social media.
The Ivory Coast international is currently away at the World Cup after seeing out the season at Selhurst Park.
He joined Crystal Palace on loan for the second half of the season and made a positive impression.
His departure was no surprise after a pretty terrible start to life in B6 after joining from OGC Nice.
Things didn't work out for the versatile forward and he just didn't fit into Unai Emery's system.
There were expectations that he would sign for the Eagles permanently, but that didn't happen despite Parish's social media antics.
Steve Parish posts about Evann Guessand as Crystal Palace future hangs in the balance
It was a surprise when the Croydon outfit didn't activate the £28million option to buy as part of his loan agreement.
The Ivorian performed well on a temporary basis in SE25, but clearly didn't impress enough.
They decided against signing him permanently and he has now jetted out to feature at the World Cup.
He is yet to make his tournament debut, but Palace chairman took to his Instagram story on Wednesday to seemingly wish him good luck.
Former Villa scout Bryan King has been left confused why Parish would post an image of Guessand and believes he could be looking to seal a cut-price deal this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: "I don't think he has any future at Villa.
"If Steve Parish has posted about him, why isn't he acting on that to sign him?
"They had the option to buy him so they may be holding out to get him on a cheaper deal than his loan deal. They'll be trying to make something happen to bring him in."
Guessand exit route from Aston Villa could still be on
The Ivorian's future at Selhurst Park could simply hinge on the thoughts of the newly appointed Pierre Sage.
The Lens boss will lead the Eagles into the new Premier League season after the planned departure of Oliver Glasner.
A decision over Guessand's future may still hang in the balance should the Frenchman want him back.
That doesn't take away from how strange it is for Parish to post about Guessand on social media, but it could suggest that he rates the loanee forward.
A move would probably suit all parties as the Villans look to just forget the hugely disappointing transfer.
