Serhou Guirassy has emerged as a potential target for Aston Villa this summer.

The Borussia Dortmund striker notched 22 goals in 46 matches across all competitions, so would be a great addition for Unai Emery's side.

A report from German outlet Bild claims that the Villans are one of several clubs interested in the Guinean striker.

It states that they are closely monitoring the 30-year-old forward and could consider a swoop.

The Villa Park outfit may still be restricted in the market by financial concerns and it remains to be seen whether they make an offer for Guirassy.

How have Aston Villa complicated things with Serhou Guirassy?

The report states that Dortmund have made their position clear, they plan to keep the attacker.

However, it claims that the growing interest from the likes of Villa and Fenerbahce could complicate the German club's view.

It also reveals that the player would be willing to listen to offers, if a convincing proposal is made.

That could open the door for Villa to strike a deal and bring the forward to England.

What does that mean for Ollie Watkins and Tammy Abraham

Ollie Watkins and Tammy Abraham are the current striking options at Emery's disposal.

The former notched 21 goals in 55 games but the latter only managed three in 16 after signing for the B6 club in the winter window.

It makes sense that the Villans are looking for an upgrade, although the idea of signing an older player may concern supporters.

Emery's squad is also the second-oldest in the top-flight, so fans may have expected younger players to be targeted to decrease that metric, and keep them competitive in the next few years.

However, Guirassy would be a solid option and he has proven that he could do it in the Champions League, notching 19 goals in 28 matches in the competition.

The Villa Park side will be in that competition next season, and plan to be in it long-term and Watkins only has one strike in 12 and Abraham has six in 22 in Europe's premier tournament.

Therefore, it is no surprise if the report is true and Emery is looking at new options for the number nine role.
