James Maddison to be perfect Aston Villa transfer if Tottenham agree exit - Scout
Aston Villa have made no secret of their desire to sign a new attacking option in the summer transfer window.
That is where James Maddison has been suggested to them.
After more than a year out with an ACL injury, the England international returned at the end of last season for Spurs.
Maddison helped Tottenham survive in the Premier League, but has been backed to possibly seal a move to Villa Park.
Donyell Malen has moved onto Roma, with Evann Guessand and Leon Bailey possibly set to follow, too.
It leaves Unai Emery incredibly short on options, but Maddison could be the answer.
This is why James Maddison needs Aston Villa transfer
Sometimes, there comes a point in a player's career where they simply need to move on.
That could be now for Maddison.
Maddison is originally from these areas, and as Tottenham start to splash the cash, could become available.
Bryan King believes that Maddison would be perfect for Villa.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, the ex-Villans scout believes it is down to whether or not Roberto De Zerbi would let him go.
"I'd certainly be looking at Maddison," King said.
"If he became available, I wouldn't mind having him at Villa. He comes from that neck of the woods.
"I would be looking at the quality Maddison could bring to Villa.
"He's the sort of player that, if he's fit, I would be going for if Tottenham were willing to let him go.
"De Zerbi wants to bring in his own players, who he knows well or has worked with before."
Why James Maddison would say yes to Aston Villa
Two words - Champions League.
After missing out on that with Spurs because of his injury, he could bounce back at Villa Park, and with more chance of playing regularly.
Villa are hitting their peak under Emery after finally clinching silverware in the Europa League, and Maddison will want to forget what happened after doing that in North London.
There is a possibility, and it would be no surprise to see Aston Villa absolutely all over that.
