Aston Villa are vulnerable to free transfer exits at the end of this season.

However, they could find themselves losing members of the squad via the same method.

Several players could depart Villa Park for nothing, if they come to agreements with foreign clubs from January onwards.

That is a result of the Bosman rule, which means players can sign pre-contract agreement with teams abroad from 1 January.

Emi Buendia is the standout name as Villa exit possible

Emi Buendia has revived his Villans career under Unai Emery, making 103 appearances under the Spaniard.

The Argentine has notched 16 goals and 11 assists in that time, but he has not had an easy route to becoming a first-team regular.

He was sent to Bayer Leverkusen for the the second-half of the 2024-25 season, after signing a contract extension.

Buendia managed 11 goals and nine assists in 54 appearances in the last campaign, proving his worth.

His contract runs until the summer of 2027, and Emery will surely not want him to agree terms with a foreign team.

Aston Villa have security over two expiring contracts

The Villans have a little more security when it comes to Ross Barkley and Victor Lindelof.

Barkley has featured regularly at the start of the season, with 163 minutes played so far.

His deal expires in 2027, although, there is an option for the club to extend so that could complicate a potential free transfer.

Lindelof, meanwhile has played 270 minutes so far, and both parties have a clause which allows them to extend.

Both parties would have to decline that, if he was to agree terms with a foreign side.

What fringe players could agree pre-contract Villa exits?

Marco Bizot has emerged as a reliable back-up goalkeeper for Emery since signing from Brest in 2025.

He signed a two-year deal that will run until the summer of 2027, meaning that he has the potential to leave for nothing.

Tyrone Mings has been relegated to a fringe player in recent times, with a total of 27 minutes under his belt this season.

He may well decide to move on when he can talk to foreign clubs in just under four months time.
