Emi Martinez accused of breaching Aston Villa contract if latest Juventus news is true
Emi Martinez could be in trouble at Aston Villa if reports of him opening talks with Juventus are true.
The Argentina international is preparing for the World Cup as he goes in defence of the title after winning in Qatar.
That comes off the back of a superb end to the campaign at Villa Park after keeping a clean sheet in the Europa League final.
He appeared to declare his loyalty to the B6 outfit in the trophy parade after the Istanbul victory, but he now looks likely to move on.
Exit links have once again been rife for the 33-year-old as a move to Juventus looks increasingly likely.
That may be the case, but it might not stop Martinez from causing himself problems at Bodymoor Heath.
Emi Martinez accused of violating Aston Villa deal if report is true
There is no secret that the Old Lady want to bring the Argentine to Turin this summer.
That leaves the Villans in a difficult spot nearly 12 months after their number one tried to force a move to Manchester United.
It is unclear at this stage whether the Villans would allow Martinez to leave, but that isn't stopping him from holding talks with Juventus.
Matteo Moretto reported on Wednesday that an agreement is "very close" between the Italian outfit and the keeper.
Personal terms are set to be agreed despite there being no fee arranged, something which has left former Villa scout Bryan King furious.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: "I can't believe that he could go for just £15million.
"How can an agreement be made between the player and Juventus?
"I've never heard of that. He should be the last person to agree a deal, it should be Villa and Juventus who do that.
"If it's true, he's in breach of contract doing that, he can't go and talk about a move to Juventus unless Villa are present."
Could Aston Villa fine Martinez for contract breach?
If it turns out that the Villans have had no part in talks with the Italian giants, there could be a problem.
Martinez would be violating his contract as he is employed by Aston Villa.
As the termination of his deal is highly unlikely as a punishment, a fine could become more likely should they decide to take action.
There are rules in place that state any fine must be proportionate and reasonable in relation to the player's salary.
Given that Martinez is on a reported £150,000 per week and £7.8m per year, a sizable bill could be placed on his head after talks with Juve.
