Douglas Luiz faces an uncertain future after his Aston Villa loan deal came to an end.

The Brazilian returned to Villa Park in January as he cut his temporary spell at Nottingham Forest short.

He acted as a true emergency signing for the Villans after so many midfield injuries.

The 28-year-old came back and filled in for Boubacar Kamara, Youri Tielemans and John McGinn.

His game time only dropped after the latter two returned as he failed to show his best form in claret and blue.

Luiz has now returned to Juventus and he is preparing for an interesting summer.

What are Juventus' plans for Douglas Luiz?

Unai Emery was forced to part ways with the midfielder after a stellar campaign under the Spaniard.

He contributed 20 goal involvements across all competitions as Villa secured Champions League qualification.

A sale was forced due to financial concerns and he's never hit the same heights since.

His spells at Forest and back at Villa haven't been beneficial and he is now back with the Old Lady.

It actually looks as if he could even have a future at Juventus as Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla discussed the Brazilian via YouTube on Friday.

He said: "One player returning from loan is Douglas Luiz, who, as of today, Friday 10 July 2026, has no market.

"You never know, if Douglas Luiz starts showing something in training, pulling off a few tricks, a few nice touches, maybe in the end they'll decide to keep him. We'll see. But it's a difficult situation—not simple, to say the least."

Could Luiz return to Aston Villa again?

There could be a world where the Villans once again move for the ex-Manchester City man.

With Amadou Onana picking up a potential season ending injury, there is a need for midfield reinforcements right now.

There is a lack of funds already in B6, so another loan for Luiz could prove to make sense.

Interest hasn't emerged at this stage, so there is no link between the two parties right now.

That could change as the window goes on if Villa get increasingly desperate for new options.

The final decision will ultimately come down to Juventus and whether they are willing to part ways with the midfielder once again.
