Juventus are considering offering Douglas Luiz back to Aston Villa in the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian news outlet reported on Tuesday [5 November] via its website, that Thiago Motta is willing to cut his losses on the Brazilian after concerns have emerged regarding his fitness since his summer switch to the Bianconeri.

Aston Villa used the funds from Luiz's sale to facilitate a big-money move for Amadou Onana from Everton who has since forged a formidable partnership with Youri Tielemans in central midfield.

Aston Villa should consider Douglas Luiz loan

Unai Emery has continued his side's stellar form from last year into the new season - Aston Villa sit in sixth place in the Premier League and are well on track in the race for Champions League qualification.

However, the Villans are suffering from a crisis of confidence as of late, the side crashed out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of Crystal Palace in a 2-1 defeat followed by a crushing 4-1 loss to Tottenham in the league.

The competition between the pair and Ross Barkley has been intense however, with Villa leading the Champions League league phase among domestic commitments further reinforcements in the middle of the park could aid the cause.

Luiz established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League at Villa Park and, a return to familiar scenery could be a mutually beneficial move for all parties.

The 26-year-old may not have a future in Turin beyond the current season but this is neither here nor there if he is available to help Aston Villa confirm a return to the Champions League next year and go deep into the competition this term - the deal is a no-brainer.
