Louie Barry is a highly-rated prospect at Aston Villa, but he looks set to be on his way out this summer.

The former Barcelona starlet is believed to have plenty of potential and shone on loan to Stockport County earlier this season.

Here, the 22-year-old netted 16 times in 24 matches before being recalled and sent to Hull City.

However, his campaign was then ended early in the Championship after he picked up a serious knee injury four appearances in.

Deal for Hull City to sign Barry could happen ‘quickly’

With Aston Villa under PSR pressure, it is vital that the Birmingham outfit make sales before Monday’s deadline.

As a result, Hull City have now entered the race to sign the attacker.

According to the Hull Daily Mail (27 June), talks have begun between the two clubs over a potential deal.

Relations between the two sides are strong, and a deal could happen “quickly”.

The prospect of signing Barry permanently appeals to Hull. However, the Tigers also have other options available.

Barry could have been a star for Aston Villa

Back in January, it looked as if Barry would be the next breakthrough star at Aston Villa as he tore through defences in League One.

However, one bad injury combined with financial concerns now means it is unlikely that the Villa Park faithful will see him fulfil his potential at the Birmingham outfit.

Barry will likely be remembered as the one that got away from Unai Emery, with the Spaniard clearly rating the youngster in the past.

Hopefully, if the winger is to be sold, a buy-back option or a sell-on clause will be included in case he shows signs of fulfilling his potential once more.
