Aston Villa are attempting to salvage what's left of their summer transfer window.

Villa's lack of meaningful business has underwhelmed supporters so far and seemingly bled through and affected Unai Emery's side on the pitch.

Alarm bells will have been ringing for Monchi when he saw Villa handily beaten by Crystal Palace over the weekend, as the need for more signings became even more evident.

Jadon Sancho is a player who could join Villa and provide the spark they have lacked so far this season, but the Villans' potential business does not look to be stopping there.

Harvey Elliott could make last-gasp move to Villa Park

Alongside Sancho, if Elliott were to also arrive in B6, then Villa supporters' outlook on the season ahead could be set to drastically change.

According to Jacob Tanswell on 1 September, Villa are exploring a deal to sign Elliott from Liverpool with the view to having the creative midfielder and Sancho commit their futures to Villa before the 7 pm deadline.

Negotiations are also underway regarding the structure of an agreement to ensure the Villans comply with the UEFA restrictions.

  • Elliott only started two games during the Reds' Premier League-winning campaign
  • The midfielder played a total of 399 league minutes last season
  • The fact that Elliott only averaged 22 minutes per game is a waste of a player with so much talent

With Elliott being sparingly used by Arne Slot since he has taken over the reins at Liverpool, Emery could be the manager to unlock the youngster's full potential, similarly to how he has done with Morgan Rogers.

Harvey Elliott arrival could signal a new role for Morgan Rogers

If Villa secured Elliott's signature, Rogers could find himself deployed on the left wing more to accommodate the potential new arrival.

The prospect of a front four consisting of Rogers, Elliott, Sancho and Ollie Watkins transforms how the club's transfer window will be viewed overnight.

With Villa's disastrous start to the season, the mood around the club would become a far more positive one.
