Alper Yilmaz has been linked with a move to Aston Villa.

Unai Emery's side seem to be stepping up their pursuit of the 25-year-old after he impressed at last summer’s Euros.

Villa have so far struggled to land any targets and are also looking to fend off approaches from their fellow Premier League teams this summer as they try to keep their best assets.

After transfer failures with the likes of Sverre Nypan, Aston Villa seem to be turning the screw in order to avoid their previous mistakes.

Aston Villa upping bids by 1-2m euros at a time in race for Yilmaz

Aston Villa have been linked with a host of players this summer, but now look set to land French defender Jaydee Canvot.

Attacking duo Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins have been linked with moves away from Villa Park this summer, and in their place could come Yilmaz.

According to Turkish outlet Fotospor (28 July), Villa are constantly upping their bids by one to two million euros at a time for the winger.

Galatasaray reportedly won't accept anything below £35million for the 25-year-old and after upping their initial bid of £17million each time, they could be getting closer to getting their man.

The Turkish international has a contract until June 30, 2028, so it won't be easy to convince Galatasaray to part ways with Yilmaz.

However, like many, should Yilmaz want a move to the Premier League, he could become agitated with the Turkish club's owners.

Watkins' future could be in doubt after Yilmaz approach

Watkins has become a key part of Emery's side.

His fine form over recent seasons has caught the eye of the England national team and now seems to have caught the eye of Premier League rivals.

Manchester United have been credited with interest in the forward, and with a potential fresh approach from the Red Devils in the future, Villa could be protecting itself with the signing of Yilmaz.

Whether Watkins leaves or not, though, it is clear that Emery still needs signings if they are to reach the heights that his side are capable of.
