Atletico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso is expected to pass a medical at Aston Villa if needed, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the Spanish centre-back had a muscular injury in March, but appeared to bounce back quickly and there isn't much to suggest in his fitness record that he will not clear the pre-transfer medical checkups.

"He had a muscular injury back in March but he was back after a few weeks and seemed to carry on for the rest of the season.

"Unless there’s some outlier issue that’s still causing problems or impacting his rehab, it's highly unlikely to cause an issue at his medical.

"One of the key things the club will be looking at are potential signs of injury recurrence and Hermoso’s injury record is quite good in that regard – minor injuries, no regularly reoccurring muscular problems.

"He’s also 28 so his adapting to the Premier League should not be an issue either."

Mario Hermoso will be an important addition for Aston Villa

The 28-year-old could be a great signing for Villa due to his versatility and experience.

He can play as a centre-back or left-back, providing much-needed depth in defence.

His time at Atletico Madrid, where he won the La Liga title, shows he can perform at the highest level.

With Villa competing in the Champions League, Hermoso's European experience will certainly come in handy and that's exactly what this current crop of players needs.
