Aston Villa told ideal loan destination for Alysson, 'It's the natural thing to do'

Published on

Aston Villa have been urged to allow Alysson to depart on loan this summer by a former scout.

The Brazilian only joined the Villans in January in a massively surprising switch from Gremio.

There were still high hopes for the 20-year-old after he had featured regularly in Serie A throughout 2025.

Things didn't quite work out as hoped in his debut campaign in B6 as fitness problems left him ruled out regularly.

His last appearance in claret and blue came at Villa Park against Chelsea in early March as he was then sidelined for the rest of the season.

Questions are now persisting of what the future could hold for Alysson as a loan move could be utilised in the very near future.

Alysson could complete loan switch to Championship

The number 47 has made just three appearances for the Villans and hasn't been given a true chance to adapt to English football.

It would prove to be a bold call for Unai Emery to throw him in next season with the hope he hits the ground running.

Villa may prove to be better off allowing him to temporarily depart to adjust away from B6.

Recruitment expert Bryan King has suggested that a loan to the Championship could be beneficial, even if it is for the short term.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: "When you get a player like that from Brazil, he's not going to play regular football in the Premier League straight away.

"There has to be a curve for him where he can get adjusted to life in England. He's going to take time to adjust, so the natural thing to do may be to get him playing regular on loan at a lower level and then bring him back after six months.

"If they can find a Championship club where he can play regularly, they've got an easy way to keep an eye on him there. That would be what I would look to do."

Aston Villa could benefit massively from Alysson loan

It may seem counterintuitive for Villa to loan out someone who could have a first-team impact.

Emery clearly rates him highly considering he described him being "fantastic as a young player" after signing him in January, but a loan could be wise.

The Championship has proven to be a breeding ground for top attacking talent over the years and Alysson could be the next through that conveyor belt.

Jack Grealish became the player we all knew he could be in the second tier, while the likes of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze made their names in the division.

This summer could be the best chance the Brazilian gets to go out and prove himself before coming back to show Emery what he's made of.
