Aston Villa could hijack Wolves in their bid to sign Lens centre-back Kevin Danso, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reports in its print edition [29 January, pg 64], that Danso is an option for Villa should they fail in their attempts to land Axel Disasi at Chelsea (TBR).

Lens value Danso at £26million but Wolves are yet to agree on a fee for the defender which could leave the door open for a switch to Villa Park.

Juan Foyth has also been mooted as a target for Unai Emery with their intent on signing a centre-half evident in the coming days (Fabrizio Romano).

Kevin Danso to Aston Villa?

Following the departure of Diego Carlos, Villa have been in the market for a new defender and should they opt to move for Danso, it could be a shrewd signing.

At 26 years old, the Austrian still has years ahead of him having already excelled at the top level in French football while also impressing in the Champions League when he has featured.

Danso has received 24 caps for his country while also making eight appearances across various UEFA competitions for Lens.

His arrival would certainly be welcomed at Villa Park and would inject some additional quality into the defensive options that Emery has available.

With just days remaining in the window, Villa will have to ramp up their efforts if they are to secure more incoming to boost their chances of Champions League qualification.
