Aston Villa set for Tim Iroegbunam windfall as Everton exit agreed

Aston Villa are set to land a small windfall after Tim Iroegbunam agreed to quit Everton.

The 23-year-old was signed to Villa's academy from West Bromwich Albion in July 2021.

Iroegbunam went on to progress to Villa's first team, making 12 Premier League appearances for the Villans.

He was sold to Everton for a fee in the regiof of £9million in June 2024, but is on the move once again.

Hull City have agreed a deal with the Toffees, and now Villa are set to bank some cash due to a clause that was inserted when he was sold.

How much will Aston Villa bank from Tim Iroegunam's sale?

Iroegbunam has struggled for regular starts at Everton, despite being popular with the Toffees' fanbase.

As such, he has been consistently linked with a new to Hull throughout the window, though an injury held things up slightly.

Now, though, the Athletic journalist Jacob Tanswell has posted on X to say that Hull have agreed a deal worth an initial £15million plus £7m in add-ons.

Villa inserted a clause into the deal that took Iroegbunam to Everton, which entitled them to 10 per cent profit from a sell-on clause inserted.

Consequently, Villa are due to receive around £500,000 from Iroegbunam's sale to Hull City.

It is fair to say that the £500k windfall from Iroegbunam's Everton sale will not move the need

But, every little always helps, and it just shows good forward thinking on Villa's part to have such clauses inserted into these deals.

Part of Villa's modus operandi in the market now is to allow sales of younger players, while inserting clauses to protect themselves in the future.

It has worked in their favour here, and you would expect it to do again in the future.
