Louie Barry could be set to seal a permanent move away from Aston Villa.

His 2020 switch from Barcelona was one of the most anticipated signings at Villa Park, especially for a youth player.

Things have just never worked out for the 23-year-old since moving to Bodymoor Heath from the Catalan giants.

That has prompted nine separate loan spells away from B6, with few of those actually benefiting his development.

His temporary stint at Sheffield United last season was one of his worst and was cut-short after nine appearances.

Barry then moved back to Stockport County, but could now be set to depart Villa Park permanently.

It would make sense for all parties for the versatile attacker to seal a move away from the claret and blue outfit this summer.

There are likely to be plenty of interested parties whether that be in the Championship or League One.

It has now been reported by The Star on Monday that Sheffield Wednesday are interested in a permanent deal for Barry.

Many possibilities are available at this stage, although the potential fee remains up in the air.

The Owls are said to be working to restricted finances, so a cheaper deal would be likely if they made a move in the coming days or weeks.

Iconic Premier League manager Tony Pulis described them as a "massive club" after taking over in 2020 and that could prove to be what entices Barry in this summer.

The one factor could inspire Barry to Sheffield Wednesday stardom

The attacker has proven over the years, particularly with Stockport County, that he knows where the back of the net is.

He has scored 19 career goals in League One and could be set to return there at Hillsborough.

The Owls will be keen to get the best out of him, but he will undoubtedly have his own agenda.

He will want to do his very best for Sheffield Wednesday to try and prove a point to those who chucked him out of Sheffield United early.

To become a star for a rival would be the perfect way to get back at the Blades and show just how good he can be.

That could see a move to the blue side of Sheffield make total sense, but it will ultimately hinge on the finances of a deal in the near future.
