Aston Villa have long been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain talent Ibrahim Mbaye.

The Villans are certainly in the market for a new winger moving deeper into the summer.

Unai Emery wants to add some pace and trickery to his side after years without true speed in his ranks.

That has seen many options emerge, but a deal is yet to be done at this stage of the window.

There will be more desire to seal a deal as time goes on and the Senegal international could prove to be an excellent addition.

Villa now look to have the upper hand in the race for Mbaye as they seek out forward reinforcements.

How Aston Villa are pushing to sign Ibrahim Mbaye

The 18-year-old is undoubtedly a bright talent that could prove to be one of the better wingers in the world down the line.

He provided flashes of that at the World Cup before his Senegal side were ultimately dumped out by Belgium.

His crowning moment came against France on his tournament debut when he smashed a strike past Mike Maignan after dribbling past Theo Hernandez with ease.

That has only raised his profile, but Foot Mercato reported on Monday that Villa are the team "most receptive to Mbaye's qualities".

Tottenham and several other teams across Europe are interested, but the Villans appear to be at the front of the queue.

The irony of it all is that his representatives are trying to convince him of a stay at PSG, where his contact is set to run until 2028.

Mbaye isn't hiding his desire to leave the French capital, which could play into Villa's hands this summer.

Why is Mbaye so desperate to leave PSG?

There is always a fear when a player is pushing to exit a club, that they could be a sign of trouble.

That often put fans off signing these sorts of players, but Mbaye is actually proving why he could be so perfect for Emery.

The teenager is aware of his talents and the interest in his signature and knows he won't get the game time he wants at the Parc Des Princes.

The Parisians have an unbelievable amount of depth in attacking areas and are set to add to that with the signings of Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco and Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig.

Mbaye wants a career change that will all him to shape the future of his career and he could certainly do that at Villa Park.

It is interesting to note that his agents aren't keen on a PSG exit, but it seems like the final decision will be with the winger, who clearly knows what he wants.
