Aston Villa eye Leandro Trossard as contact made with representatives
Aston Villa could make a move for Leandro Trossard this summer.
The Belgium international is coming off the back of a Premier League title winning campaign at Arsenal.
He featured regularly for the Gunners and started in the Champions League final defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.
That ended his campaign on a sour note, but his output certainly isn't something to be sniffed at.
Trossard could now be on his way out of Arsenal as a Villa Park switch could be on the cards.
Aston Villa closely monitoring Leandro Trossard at Arsenal
The 31-year-old has certainly been a useful asset at the Emirates after sealing his move from Brighton.
He switched the south coast for North London in January 2023 and has played a role in the upturn in fortunes under Mikel Arteta.
There is a general feeling now though that a new wide option is needed after the Gunners' failure to lift European silverware.
A left winger is on the shopping list and that looks set to open the door for Trossard to move on.
Turkish outlet Sporx reported on Thursday that Aston Villa are interested in his signature and are monitoring him closely.
The Belgian is also being eyed by the likes of Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Inter, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.
Besiktas are also in the race and have placed the forward at the top of their shopping list.
The Super Lig giants are reportedly in contact with Arsenal and Trossard's representatives as a North London exit looks increasingly likely.
Could Arsenal use Trossard to complete Morgan Rogers deal?
The big transfer news surrounding the Villa Park outfit is the potential departure of Morgan Rogers.
He is certainly attracting interest and the Gunners are one of the sides seemingly at the front of the queue.
The England international could solve their left-winger problem, especially if Trossard is to move on.
Arsenal could ship the Belgian to Villa Park this summer in the hope of then signing Rogers.
If the Villans are going to lose the attacking midfielder anyway, it could make sense to get an experienced Premier League attacker as part of it.
