Aston Villa already seem resigned to losing Emi Martinez this summer.

Though, for it to have got to this stage is quite impressive, given the fact that it seemed that the Argentine was destined to quit last summer.

Instead, Martinez remained at Villa Park, where he would go on to play a vital role between the sticks as the Villans qualified for the Champions League again.

However, those exit fears are almost certain to come to fruition this summer, with Juventus pushing hard for a transfer.

The Villans have set out their stall in regard to sanctioning his exit.

However, reports from Italy now suggest that the stall is somewhat unstable.

'Mission impossible' claim made as Villa lower Emi Martinez price tag

Martinez is a world-class goalkeeper, and Aston Villa have been keen to ensure that their valuation of him reflects that.

However, with negotiations still ongoing with Juventus, it's claimed that they have lowered their demands

A report from Tuttosport states that Villa are "starting to crumble", having now reduced their asking price for Martinez to £8.6million plus future bonuses.

"It's anything but mission impossible," the report adds, with it looking increasingly likely that the two clubs could strike an agreement sooner rather than later.

Martinez has already expressed a desire to make the move to Turin, showcasing that it may only be a matter of time.

Who could replace Martinez at Aston Villa?

The bigger issue for Villa isn't losing Martinez, it's replacing him without losing much quality.

Zion Suzuki has been linked with a move to Villa Park, having impressed for Parma since moving there in 2024.

The Japan international kept five clean sheets in the Serie A last season, and has already managed one in his two appearances at this year's World Cup.

At just 23 years old, he still has plenty of room to grow into an elite goalkeeper, which will be ideal for Aston Villa.

They need someone to take over from Martinez for the long-term, and someone of Suzuki's profile would be the perfect candidate.
