Aston Villa are real issue already as Newcastle plot headline new transfer
Aston Villa could be the latest club to pile more transfer misery on Newcastle United this summer.
With another season of Champions League football to attend to, the Villans need to strengthen their squad when and where possible.
And those needs will only be amplified if the exit of Morgan Rogers is sacntioned amid plenty of interest.
However, as always, many of Villa's targets are likely to be shared among several other clubs, which is a similar fate to what Newcastle have suffered.
They lost out on the signing of Victor Munoz earlier this window, with the Spaniard sealing a move to Liverpool, which is the same club that they lost out on the signing of Hugo Ekitike to only 12 months ago.
And yet Villa could add more transfer hurt in the coming months, as per the latest update on the future of Matias Fernandez-Pardo.
What do Aston Villa want this summer?
The first thing will be to keep Rogers, but after that, a new left-sided forward is likely to be a priority.
That is according to a report from The i Paper, which also states that Fernandez-Pardo has been the subject of an enquiry from Newcastle.
Given his profile, he would be the perfect addition for the Villans to address their left side of the attack, which is labelled as an "issue" for the Magpies.
Fans from the North East have already grown frustrated at the way Newcastle have missed out on several targets, and yet interest from Villa could see it happen again.
What would Fernandes-Pardo bring to Villa?
He may not be a household name quite yet, but it is unlikely to be long until he is given his performances in his last campaign.
The 21-year-old managed eight goals and five assists for Lille in Ligue 1 last season, having started just 27 games.
No winger completed more dribbles than Fernandez-Pardo, who averaged 1.36 per 90
On top of that, only 12.3 per cent of forwards in Ligue 1 created more chances than the Spaniard.
It demonstarted the attacking quality that he would bring to Villa Park, but also why it would be hugely disappointing for Newcastle to miss out on him, again.
