Aston Villa Women are yet to confirm their new head coach.

It was just four days ago that Natalia Arroyo was relieved from her duties at Villa Park.

The Spaniard never truly had a positive run as manager with wins being hard to come by, despite surviving in the WSL.

That theme continued into the new campaign as the claret and blue outfit have slumped to 13th in the table.

With two points in the opening four games and a recent 4-0 defeat against Tottenham, the final decision wasn't necessarily a surprise.

The question is now about who will replace Arroyo, but Villa might not have far to look.

Who should replace Natalia Arroyo at Aston Villa?

The 40-year-old head coach arrived in January and certainly had a difficult start with four consecutive defeats to start her reign.

Those issues became a theme as the Villans remain on a run of five months of league action without a win.

Arroyo has now been shown the door, leaving the Bodymoor hierarchy with a decision to make.

Brian Sorensen has taken charge on an interim basis while the search gets underway.

He could prove to be the perfect tonic in B6 as the new head coach could be staring Villa right in the face.

The Dane has played a role with the Midlands club since March when he was named as technical advisor.

Sorensen has already guided the Villans to victory as interim boss with a 3-1 League Cup win over Newcastle.

That has proven what he could do, but why does he deserve a crack at the manager job?

Why Brian Sorensen could be perfect for Aston Villa Women right now

Villa have already gone down the avenue of a coach with no experience of the WSL.

There was hope that Arroyo would bring fresh perspective and could install a style of play that could thrive in England.

That isn't how things have worked out and she struggled to do that.

The B6 outfit now need to take a different path and Sorensen could be that man.

He has already managed in the WSL with Everton and combines that with an in-depth knowledge of this Villa squad having worked behind the scenes for seven months.

That could see him be given the job as he looks to make the transition back to being a full-time head coach.

A problem may arise with his recent move to join Carla Ward's Republic of Ireland coaching staff.

If that can all work itself out, it appears to be a no-brainer to give Sorensen a chance, rather than taking another risk that could end with Villa in WSL 2.
