Aston Villa are yet to truly see the best of Tammy Abraham since his return.

There was plenty of excitement when he came back through the doors in B6 after seven years away.

The striker was a star in the Championship and it was great to see him back in claret and blue.

That hope hasn't necessarily been matched by performances.

The 29-year-old has scored just five goals and has rarely looked good enough to be featuring in an Unai Emery side.

Facing Brentford at Villa Park could prove to be the perfect tonic after what happened last time out.

What happened to Tammy Abraham vs Brentford in February?

Cast your mind back to eight months ago when the number 18 came back to the Midlands.

The Villans had to wait a long time, but a deal was finally done with Besiktas.

He came straight in to make his second Villa debut as he lead the line against Brentford.

The hosts lost 1-0 as Dango Ouattara's strike made all the difference for the 10-man Bees.

Things could have been so different if Abraham's equaliser had counted.

VAR deemed the ball to have gone out of play right at the beginning of the move, the likes we haven't truly seen since.

The Englishman was left crestfallen at Villa Park and that has almost summed up his struggles since returning.

With that injustice in the back of his mind, the return of Brentford to B6 could give the striker a chance to score again.

What can Aston Villa expect from Abraham

It is about time that the claret and blue faithful saw more from the forward.

He signed off before the international break in perfect fashion as he bagged a brace in his only start of the campaign.

Abraham netted after just seven minutes against Coventry City before sealing victory with a 59th minute effort.

His stats from that night also reflect well as he maintained a 100 per cent conversion rate in front of goal.

The striker also put up two defensive actions and won three duels at the CBS Arena.

He may have completed just 55 per cent of his attempted passes, but there is positives to take.

If Abraham can get fired up against Brentford, there will be every chance he can prove himself and why he belongs in this Villa side.
