Ty Bracey has piled praise on Lucas Digne for his Aston Villa and France form despite Ian Maatsen signing to provide competition for him.

The 31-year-old has had a positive start to the season which culminated in him grabbing two assists for his nation against Italy on Sunday (17 November).

This form has carried over from his spell with the Villans which has seen him keep the summer signing out of the starting XI for the most part.

Villa podcaster Bracey, who features on the Villa Social, believes minutes will come for both left backs but right now the Frenchman is thriving.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: "I've been waxing about him for a while.

"He had Moreno come in, hot on his heels and he upped and strived under the pressure. Once he left, Maatsen came in and that's massive.

"I'd say that's the position with the most strength. You're happy if you see Lucas Digne and you're happy if you see Ian Maasten, I don't think there's a losing scenario in that position.

"Digne continues to thrive and playing good football for club and country so I'm just over the moon for him.

"It's not going to be easy for Maatsen to get in ahead of him but there's a lot of football to play and plenty of minutes for either party."

There is still plenty of hype from Villa supporters surrounding the Dutchman who has plenty of potential and likely will become the starting left back at the club for years to come.

Unfortunately for him, his competition for the role is extremely strong with Digne proving himself under Didier Deschamps ahead of AC Milan star Theo Hernandez.

It is only a positive thing for Unai Emery to have a decision to make between the two options especially with so many games in league, cup and in Europe ahead of them this campaign.
